The New Alexandra Hotel

We didn’t stay over- just food and drinks. We were immediately greeted at the door with a smile and invited in, our dogs were also welcomed in, this is important me as my dogs are my babies. At first glance we were impressed with the menu prices and were even more impressed when the food was served, portions are very good and super value for money! Very tasty food and you can see the chefs take pride in what they are cooking! Also great quality beer! Highly recommend

Hotel Alexandra review (17 10 25 ) On arrival the hotel staff were amazing .They helped us with our luggage and Dog Sandy .Assisted us to our room. The view was fantastic and the room overhall was very clean and quiet.The food was a good price and resonable portions . The staff members were always happy to help and on our last night, we had so much fun with the owner and local people.They made us feel very welcome. Will definatly stay again in the near future .

Just had a few nights here. Really nice staff, everyone was polite and helpful. Breakfast was lovely. Comfy bed. Great price for everything.

Popped in for a drink and somehow wound up staying the night. I’d read the reviews beforehand—go back far enough and they verge on performance art—but here’s my view: it’s run by hardworking, genuine people whose livelihood depends on getting it right. Some criticisms may have had a point, others felt a touch theatrical, and running a small hotel isn’t exactly a stress-free hobby, so an occasional brisk reply is hardly a hanging offence. As for cleanliness, I had a proper look round and found everything tidy and comfortable. The proprietor struck me as the perfect example of the difference between “nice” and “kind”: a nice person stops on the motorway to say how terribly sorry they are you’ve broken down and hopes it all works out; a kind person gives you a bit of ribbing for not knowing how to change a tyre, then shows you how—and probably lends a hand. This is that sort of place: no-nonsense, quietly caring, and refreshingly free of fluff.

Me and my gf stayed for a night, we were greeted by a young lady called Melissa with a very cute dog (the dog made the whole trip) and was kindly taken to our room, the room was very clean and tidy we loved our stay and would definitely come back great service great hotel great doggo 10/10

Thank you for a wonderful weekend. A family run Dog friendly hotel that's worth every penny. Yes there's a lot of stairs and no lift but this is stated on their description. So why reviews have complained about the stairs is beyond me. The room was a good size, clean and well stocked for tea and coffee. The restaurant/bar is a lovely place. The food is fantastic, the staff and owners are wonderful friendly helpful people. Even Ronnie (the dog) says thank you for the cuddles and sausages. We had 4 wonderful nights at the Alex for our anniversary and so glad we did. We will 100% be staying again

Didn’t stay, just visited the pub with my partner to watch the football and enjoy some food and drinks. Everything was very reasonably priced. The chef’s homemade beef stew and homemade beef lasagne were both outstanding — a solid 10/10. The pub has a really cosy, welcoming atmosphere with a lovely family feel. Would highly recommend.

Just stayed here with my partner and two children in an emergency situation, they are so accommodating, amazing service and staff, beautiful rooms, amazing food and a very practical location. Highly recommend!!
